Another successful development of 8 affordable homes.

B.W.May & Son Ltd have completed another development of 8 affordable homes for English Rural Housing Association in the village of Stockbury in Kent.

he homes have been built to a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 standard using new technology to create sustainable and renewable energy solutions. These include the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps and a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery system that helps to remove moisture and redistributes air around the home.

To reinforce the high standards of the development, B.W.May & Son have also incorporated safety and security measures into the homes and have been awarded Secured By Design status by Kent Police.

B.W.May – Considerate Constructors for Stockbury

B.W. May has once again shown their commitment to site improvement and have received a certificate beyond compliance from the Considerate Constructors Scheme for their site at South Street, Stockbury.

The site made up of 8 new dwellings, which is due to be completed in October, scored 37 out of 50 upon their second site inspection on May 30th. Fred and his team received high praise from the scheme inspector who said: “It was a pleasure to visit a site run by a traditional regional contractor where the entire workforce comprises long serving and directly employed operatives.”

The Considerate Constructor Scheme ethos is to improve the image of the industry and is one B.W.May is proud to be recognised by.

Affordable homes for Tatsfield

B. W. May has recently completed their development of 10 affordable homes for English Rural in the village of Tatsfield. The project was made up of 4nr 2 bed and 2nr 3 bed homes along with 2nr 2 bed and 2nr 1 bed flats.
The homes achieved the prestigious Secured By Design award from Surrey Police and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, which included the following key sustainable measures;

          • Solar Photovoltaics Panels
          • Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery
          • Considerate Constructors Compliance
          • High air permeability rating
          • Sustainable urban drainage system

The security and sustainability of these homes once again confirms B.W.May’s ability to deliver very high quality projects on time and on budget.

B. W. May development awarded 

B W May were invited to attend the Ashford building design and construction awards on Monday 21st January 2013 at St Mary The Virgin Church, Ashford and were pleased to return with an award for ‘Best Social Housing Development’ for our construction of 6 affordable homes in Ruckinge for the English Rural Housing Association.

The awards identify new buildings or projects that are of high quality in design and construction that make a positive contribution to the local environment and our scheme at Ruckinge was competing against projects from across the borough. The scheme was designed and built to be sustainable for years to come and this had already been recognised by achieving a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 in 2012.
